Event Management for Hasbro

The Problem:

Hasbro was excited to announce the release of Monopoly Hilton Head, the next in its line of location-based board games. Hilton Head is a small community with many loyal visitors from around the country, so Hasbro wanted to ensure the press event embodied the essence of Hilton Head while exciting fans from near and far. As local representatives of R Public Relations, we were asked to run the event and infuse it with some Southern charm.

The Strategy:

When running events, we prioritize clear communication and organization. We created a run of show (ROS) for the day and organized all media needs before arriving on the scene.

The Tactics:

The first thing we do before every event is to build a detailed ROS. We include key personnel and contact information, dates and times for happenings down to the minute, action items and assignments, and a packing list. In the case of media events, we also include a checklist of confirmed and unconfirmed media personnel with an area to keep notes and requests from each individual.

On-site, we set up the press room, props, and wayfinding signage. We assisted with an appearance by Mr. Monopoly and coordinated several video and print interviews, juggling several reporters at once.

After the press announcement, we jetted around town with “Mr. Monopoly” himself to create additional buzz and capture fun photos for social media!

The Results:

This press event took place in mid-July 2024. The goal was to secure the maximum amount of submissions for board inclusion from local businesses by the end of August. Thanks to the success of the event and the exceptional press coverage it garnered, we met our goal. Monopoly Hilton Head is set to release this spring.
